ca 1857. Served in Union Army, 1 ARK CAV. Later, came to
TX. In Red River Co.-1900 census, Fannin Co.-1910 census.
Children include Alice, Calvin, Nora, Bettie, Elizabeth,
McKinnon L., Mandy, Francis M., Lowery, and Martha.
Nephews William T. LEE, Monroe LEE, and Charlie C. LEE
were also in northeast TX at one time or another (Mt.

I'm looking for any tidbit of information about Lucy
Preston SANDERS, born 17 June 1871, or her husband James
Alton "Jim" ASHBY, who was born 10 August 1864.
I don't have their birthplaces, but her Bible appears to
say they were married 11 Feb 1885 in Franklin County.
This date could be an error, as she would have been less
than 14 years old. One or both may have lived at
Nacogdoches at one time. They later lived in Mason,
Menard, and Williamson counties. Lucy's father was Lloyd
Preston SANDERS.

William Jefferson KENNEDY (W.J.)was born in TX in Jan
1862. I know the names of two of his brothers: Joseph and
Doss. Their mother was living in W.J. KENNEDYs household
at the time of her death after October 1907 but before
the 1910 census. The mother's name was most probably
Addie, maiden name unknown, however W.J.'s death
certificate identifies her as "Vinnia Gable, b.
AR" and his father as "William KENNEDY" b.
Ireland. The death certificate information was given by
his youngest daughter who admits to having paid
little-to-no attention to family history information. I

Harrison County, TX, census with the following members of
his household: M.E. KING (f) age 24, b. SC; A.C. KING (m)
age 17, b. TN; and A.H. KING (f) age 15, b. TN. I believe
J. KING is John, and that M.E. may be the Elizabeth M.
KING who married T.G. NESBITT in Harrison County on 16
Feb 1855; and A.H. is the Harriett A. KING who married
George K. FISHER in Harrison County on 2 Jan 1855; and
that A.C. KING is Calvin KING who married Cora LIPSCOMB
in Harrison County on 16 Jan. 1855. Would really
appreciate information on this family. Calvin and Cora
farmed land her father had received as a headright in
Harrison County and the area later became Titus then
Franklin County. Census information indicated George K.
FISHER remained in Harrison County, T.G. NESBITT does not

and Maud b. 1897. Rose's parents were Robert Lee Rich b.
IN, date unknown and Janie Johnson b. MS, date unknown
part or full blood Cherokee. By the 1910 census, Rose was
living with her 2nd husband (my great grandfather) James
Mercer Beard in Hot Springs Co AR. They had several
children before his death. Rose died in 1944 in Little
Rock AR. Obituary states that she had 2 surviving
siblings, a brother named Ben who was living in TX and a

from the 1954 Bogata HS Classmates yearbook. The other board members
are mild and totally unlike him in demeanor.
So, now I am curious. "Living with Boss Suggs" seems like the title
of a book/article or diary entry, not
just a Census notation.
Was he a Klan plant on the local board or something? There are only
him and his wife Lora on FaG. No offspring listed and no indication
that she is a Simmons. His given name seems to be Herman and his
