| NOTES: Taz Watson arrived in Freestone Co., TX on December 24, 1850 with his parents and siblings. He worked diligently all his life. His professions included farming, raising livestock, and operating the Stewards Mill Store. Taz and Mat were members of the Baptist Church. Mat was independent when they moved into their home on the hill just above the Stewards Mill Store with the house on one side of the spring branch and the barn on the other, she said, "Taz, you run what's on that side of the branch and I'll run what's on this side." Their surviving letters reveal a loving relationship and a sorrow at being apart. The epitaph, "He loved Everyone" was carved on Taz' tombstone by the maker as a tribute and neither paid for nor requested by the family. |
