Doris Norred Cobb

Doris Norred Cobb, 83, of Leander, formerly of Austin, departed this life on Friday, December 24, 2004. She was born March 9, 1921, in Burnet County, Texas, the daughter of the late Sam Norred, Sr. and Kate Mitcheltree. Her family was one of the early settlers of Burnet County.

Doris was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Madge Norred; a brother, S. J. "Jake" Norred, Jr.; a sister, Kate Estepp; a granddaughter, Audra Cobb; and a nephew, Kenneth Estepp.

Known for her cooking and for being an expert seamstress, Doris was a loving friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A member of the Leander Church of Christ, Doris leaves behind many loving friends and family.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Dewain and Carolyn Cobb of Austin and Larry and Barbara Cobb of Weatherford; grandchildren, Chanel and husband Tim, Anissa and husband Doug, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Joel; and a nephew, Wade Estepp.

The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with Minister Bill Snow officiating. Internment will follow at the adjoining Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Audra Cobb Memorial Scholarship Fund at Abilene Christian University, or to the Leander Church of Christ.
