George and Nancy Stinnett

George M. Stinnett
(along with his brother Thomas A. Stinnett) was one of the charter members of the Masonic Lodge at Smithwick. They were the youngest children of Joel Martin and Frances "Fannie" Wells Stinnett. Joel and Fannie were born in VA, headed west, and had many children in different states. George and Thomas were born in Missouri. The whole family settled in Fannin Co., 1846.

George M. Stinnett was born 5 Apr 1841 in Missouri; he died 7 May 1883 and was buried at Smithwick Cemetery. He was a Civil War Soldier.

Nancy Jane Vickers was born 15 Nov 1848 in Texas; she died 12 Feb 1921. She is also buried in the Smithwick Cemetery.

Note from contrubutor: "They were my GG Grandparents."

Children: all were born in Burnet County.

James A. Stinnett: b. 09-Nov-1867, d. 25-Nov-1946 in Liberty Co. TX

Peoria Alice Stinnett: b. 12-Dec-1869, d.19-Feb-1947. Married John M. Dawson (picture). [G Grandmother of contributor.]

John W. Stinnett: b. 29-Apr-1872, d. 11-Aug-1948 in Odom, TX.

Florence Marigold Stinnett: b. 27-Aug-1874. Married Frank Porter Lewis. They had lots of children and there are a lot of their descendants in Burnet Co.[ G Grandmother of Janet Lewis Crain.] Frank and Florence are buried at Smithwick Cemetery. [Lewis brothers photo]
