Thomas Wolf and Clarissa O'Hair

Biography of Clarissa (O'Hair) Wolf

Clarissa O'Hair was born the 23rd of April 1830 in Edgar County, Illinois. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas O'Hair and Rachel Janes. Thomas was born about 1780 in Virginia and Rachel was born 4 June 1790 in Kentucky. Thomas and Rachel were married 24 October 1810 in Floyd County, Kentucky. To this union were born eight children:

Eleanor O'Hair, b. 27 August 1813,
Lydia O'Hair, b. 31 March 1818,
John O'Hair, b. abt 1820,
William O'Hair, b. 21 Feb 1821,
Michael O'Hair, b. about 1823,
Jonathan O'Hair, b. about 1825, and
Clarissa O'Hair

Clarissa's family had migrated to Edgar county from Kentucky about 1822. After her mother, Rachel Janes O'Hair, died about 1835, Thomas O'Hair came to Nacogdoches County, Texas. He obtained land in Rusk County. Sometime about 1845 he was joined by his sons, William, Jonathan, and Michael.

Clarissa O'Hair came to Texas shortly after 1850 and married Thomas Hopkins Wolf in Burnet, Texas on 28 September 1856. Thomas Hopkins Wolf was born about 1818 in Tennessee and died about 1892 in Dobyville, Burnet, Texas. They had 6 children:

Teck, Babe, Kellas, Joe, Pack, and W Henry.

Thomas' nickname was "Hop". Thomas had two sons from a first marriage named Matt and Monroe. Clarissa's brother, William O'Hair was a prominent member of the early Burnet community serving as Sheriff, Judge, Tax Assessor and Treasurer. Clarissa O'Hair Wolf died 18 January 1909. She and Thomas were buried in the Dobyville Cemetery.
