South Commercial Avenue is usually called only Commercial Avenue, as South Commercial Avenue is the primary business street in Coleman, and North Commercial Avenue is only two blocks long and is in the far north part of Coleman.  South Commercial Avenue extends south from Live Oak Street, through the center of the city, divides intersecting streets into east and west and is the point at which numbers on these street begin.

The first two blocks of Commercial Avenue have always been of photographic interest, partly because the area around the courthouse was the earliest business district with large buildings, and also because the courthouse offered a good view from the top, to take pictures.  The courthouse was also a good subject for photographs.  Even though the Courthouse Square  is faced by four streets, it has a West Live Oak Street address.
