This latter Hancock was a brother, and probably the twin, of Elizabeth Lee that married Zachary Taylor, and their son, Gen. Dick Taylor, was the father of President Zachary Taylor. The parents of Hancock and Elizabeth were Hancock and Sarah Allerton (his second wife), and the Lee grandparents were Col. Richard Lee and wife Anna, who came from England in 1642. Sarah was the daughter of Col. Isaac Allerton, a son of Isaac Allerton of the Mayflower and Plymouth Colony, and his second wife, Fear, daughter of Elder William Brewster and wife, Mary.

Neil [McCoul] Howison came to Galveston, Texas, in the summer of 1874 and worked at Oakwood for a short time and on the 4th of December, 1874, he joined his brother, H. Lee Howison at Maple Springs. From that time on except for a time when he joined a buffalo hunt in West Texas and some time spent as a cowboy working for a ranch near Graham, Young County, herding cattle from the Panhandle to Corpus Christi, Maple Springs, or Bogata as it became later, was his home. Seven children were born to Neil M. and Fannie Howison:

Geodetic Survey, city engineer of his home town, with a railroad company in Arkansas County, surveyor this county for years, later with the State Highway Dept., now retired because of loss of sight.
