He had 3 wives; he married first a Lula Shaw & they had two daughters. Vida and Edith...then Lula died giving birth to their 3rd child a son, and they are buried (Lula and child) in unmarked graves at Concord. Then William went to the Franklin Co., and Titus Co., area and that is where he met Lena Josephine Edwards....she was much younger than him. She was born in 1881, and they married in 1898, making her about 17 when they married. She had a son with William Henry and when he was about 9 a door fell on him and he died. She also had 3 daughters Mary Effie Hitt Bishop, Rose and Della. Then Lena Josephine Edwards Hitt had another son that died shortly after birth and she took milk fever and died also.....She and the baby are buried in that cemetery close to the coal mines in MT Pleasant. William married Emma Kelly in 1910 and they had two children, their oldest died at the age of 2 and their son lived to be an old man. Jack Hitt.......Emma Hitt was closer in age, but that really has nothing to do with it....Emma raised the three daughters that William had with Lena and also Jack, their own son......I remember her, she was a nice lady and I didn't know until I started with all this work that she wasn't my real great-grandmother; submitted by Geraldine Little Braswell
