I am researching my mother's family. I have gone back to Thomas KEESE (b. 1826 d. 1873) from Leon, Texas. He married Martha Elizabeth Rigby (b.1843 d. 1923). They had many children - one being my great grandfather, James Harrison Keese. My grandfather was Major Van Keese. (Major was his first name - not a title.) I seem to have hit a road block with Thomas Keese - unable to find his parents or siblings.
Can you be of any help? SIncerely, Jaimee March

WATKINS.  They moved to Jewett in Leon Co. in the 1850's.  William was a Methodist preacher and he and his sons and neighbors built Watkins Chapel there.  Their children were born in Jewett.  They were: Andrew, Drury, Nancy Jane, Lucy Ann, Francis Catherine, William and the oldest, my great great greatgrandfather Henry Watkins.  William died in 1874 and left behind his wife and children.  If anyone has any more information on the Watkins I would greatly appreciate it. My grandfather, Henry Watkins, passed away last year and I loved him dearly.  Thank you so much.    Michelle

There was a large NIXON family in Leon Co for many years.
Thomas Graves Nixon Jr married Jane Young on 4 October 1853 in Walker Co and they lived in Leon Co from about 1860 with their ten children:
1. Thomas Freeman Nixon, b 30 Aug 1854
2. William Hester Nixon, b 8 Jan 1857
3. John Walter Nixon, b 14 Jan 1859
4. Richard Hampden Nixon, b 29 Dec 1860
5. Frank Young Nixon, b 24 Feb 1865
6. Lee Nixon, b 15 Jan 1867
7. Carroll Nixon, b 17 Jul 1869
8. Jennie Nixon, b 4 Oct 1871
9. May Nixon, b 10 Dec 1873
10. Annie M Nixon, b 13 Sep 1877

The eldest son of Frank Young Nixon (child #5 above) was Thomas Hale Nixon, b 25 Jan 1889. He may have been the T H Nixon who married Mary Hollingsworth in Leon Co on 20 Nov 1910. Has anyone done any research on these Nixon families? John E Young

I'm trying to find information on my great grandfather. All I know is that his name was Charles "Charlie" RIDINGS and that he was possibly a sheriff or police officer in Oakwood or Leon County. It would have been late 1800s or early 1900s. Any information would be appreciated!
Thank You, Rachel

I am looking for information on my great-great-great-grandmother Margaret J. (LYON) FLINN HEAD. Margaret was b.1820 Claiborne Co MS. She married first husband George W. FLINN 22 Sept 1836 in Claiborne Co MS. They are on 1850 Franklin Parish, LA census with children Elizabeth, Ellen, George, Arthur, Arley and Frances. George died about 1853, and Margaret married second husband H. M. HEAD. They are listed on the 1860 Franklin Parish, LA census with his children George W., Adeline E. Emma HEAD and Margaret's youngest by George FLINN, Frances FLINN. One family tree on Ancestry states that H. M. HEAD died about 1863 and is buried in Leon Co. TX. I have not been able to find his grave, but did see one that may be his son George W. HEAD in Buffalo Cemetery. My query is that I would like to know what happened to Margaret (LYON)FLINN HEAD. I am assuming she married again, as she was only in her forties when she became a widow for the second time. I am descended from her daughter Elizabeth FLINN and husband Benjamin Franklin ROBINSON. Any help is appreciated.  Doris Davis

My grandfather was William Ellis JOHNSTON also known as Johnny. He was born in Centerville in 1895? 98? I see a couple called WW Johnston and Cora Ellis married 1/15/1896, Book B page 363. I am not sure if these are his parents, I do think the family was established in Centerville. My grandfather is buried in the Centerville Cemetery (died 1967) beside his first wife, my real grandmother, Ruby Irene Johnston (died 1938). If you have further information about this family, I would greatly appreciate knowing about it. My mother was Wm. Ellis Johnston's daughter, Margeret Jean. Thank you very much, Sharon Wells
