Another landmark has passed from the walk of this life to his reward beyond the river.  A pall of gloom was cast over our town and community last Sunday afternoon when it was announced that Mr. O. O. Beal had succumbed to pneumonia.  He was sick but a few days and many of his friends had not heard of his illness.  Death came to claim this veteran citizen at 12:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon and in resigning to fate he fell peacefully to sleep.  Enterment was made at the Mount Zion cemetery Monday afternoon at four o'clock.  Rev. Morgan Morgans, pastor of the Christian Church, conducted the services.

A large number of friends were present at the funeral and many beautiful floral offerings were given as a token of the high esteem for the friend and neighbor whose last resting place they were about to leave.

Mr. Beal was sixty seven years of age and had been a member of the Christial Church since 1871.  It had been his one ambition to live an upright Christian life through all those years.

The writer has known Mr. Beal well and personally for more than 10 years. He was devoted to his friends, his family and his home and was in every way a true citizen and earnest Christian.  He was charitable to every worthy and first cause and found pleasure in doing good to others.

Mr. Beal is survived by a wife, two sons and six daughters who will miss his fatherly care and counsel.  May God comfort and sustain his bereaved family.
