Jan 2007:  WOREEN vs. WORDEN or WARDEN.
  • I found the transcription of this cemetery and was wondering if there
was a 'typo' for WOREEN?  I truly believe this should read Worden.
Actually their Surname was Warden but was commonly misspelled during these years.

According to the Census taker neither could read or write.  Jesse
    William(s) and Esther Owsley Warden
were ancestors of mine.  Jesse was
the first born of Hezekiah and Ann Johnson Warden.  Ann died and
Hezekiah remarried to Sarah Butler and they had 9 children and then
Sarah died and Hezekiah married again and had 3 more children.  He lived
    in Grayson Co.

Hezekiah and Sarah were my 3rd great grandparents.  He gave land for the
Warden Cemetery south of Tom Bean, Grayson, TX.

Jesse and Esther "Easter" were married by her father, or by Wm. Owsley,
December 11 1842, Cass City, "Van Buren" Co., MO.

...Robert Rankin, Oregon, 3rd great grandson of Hezekiah Warden
NOTE:  The transcript entry was changed to WORDEN after consulting the book Burnet County Cemetery Records, 1852-1982 entry for Bear Creek.  Thanks for the input!  -jm-
