Oscar J. Fox, of San Antonio, Texas, is winning fame as a composer of cowboy songs. Mr. Fox was born in Burnet County, Texas in 1879. He went to Europe for his musical education, and also spent several seasons in New York. He has just completed arrangements with G. Schirmer and Carl Fisher, music publishers of New York, for the publication in concert form of two cowboy songs, "A Cowboy's Lament," (Oh, Bury Me Not On the Lone Prairie) and "Rounded Up in Glory." Both of these songs were taken from John A. Lomax's "Cowboy Songs and Other Frontier Ballads," published by the Macmillan Co. of New York. |
