Wilson R. "Pete" Heine, age 80, of Bertram, Texas, died on Friday, August 23, 1996.  Mr. Heine was born on April 21, 1916 in Burnet County (Smithwick Community), the son of Richard Heine and Willie Hood.  He was a resident of Jarrell, Texas approximately 7 years. 

He served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  Mr. Heine received the Purple Heart and 5 Bronze Stars.  After his discharge from the military he worked in the local CCC Corps, which helped complete work on Longhorn Caverns.  Mr. Heine also worked for S. W. Bell Telephone and later for Brown & Root for many years.  He worked for Grady Mather Fencing in Liberty Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Heine of Jarrell, Texas; four sons, Coy Richard Heine of Jarrell, Freddie Lee Heine of Temple, Gary Allan Heine of Jarrell, and Richard Hudberg of Houston; 3 daughters, Shella Marie Kay of Cedar Park, Thelma Lou Medrano of Jarrell and Chris Ann Bruce of Temple; one brother, Melvin Heine of Burnet; four sisters, Margerite Cox of Bertram, Pauline Lester of Burnet, Gay Nell Brinkley of Austin, and Edith Wilson of Bertram; 8 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter,  Donna Schott and sister, Ida Mildred Heine.

Graveside services were held on Monday, August 26th, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. at Smithwick Cemetery with Reverend Ed Jennings officiating.  Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas.
