Clyde B. Keele, 88, of Burnet died on Tuesday January 25, 2000.

Mr. Keele was born in Burnet on May 23, 1911 and lived his whole life on the ranch where he was born.

He was the last surviving child of Jefferson Russell Keele and Nancy Catherine (Davis) Keele who moved to Burent in 1909.

Mr Keele was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister, including his twin brother, Clint D. Keele.

Mr. Keele is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Arpie Joan (Purcell) Keele. They were married in Burnet on June 16, 1935. He is also survived by five children:

Anita Gray and her husband James of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Max Keele and wife Zudora of Lampasas.

Rex Keele and wife Suzanne of Lampasas.

Kelvin Keele and wife Jan of Burnet.

Vikie Gillin and husband Mark of McAllen.

Also surviving are eleven grandchildren. Derek Keele, Jeff Gray, Davis Keele, Chad Keele, Shannon Gray, Todd Keele, Delana (Keele) Dubak, Rachel (Keele) Gill, Sanesa Keele, Ben Gillin, and Sarah Gillin, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Keele was baptized into Christ at the age of 13 in Hamilton Creek. He was a member of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet and served as an elder for 37 years.

Mr. Keele was active in the community and served two terms on the BCISD School Board. A farmer, rancher, and building contractor, he worked on the construction of Buchanan Dam in 1935 and was a partner in Keele Associates until he retired in 1973

Keele Associates built custom homes and commercial building, including over 30 schools, throughout the Central Texas area.

Clyde Keele was a respected and loved member of the Church and the Burnet community.

He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Services were held at the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ on Friday January 28, 2000, at 2 p.m.

Services were conducted by his close friend, J. R. Collins and nephew, Leaman Keele.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial at Burnet Cemetery under the dirction of Clements-Wilcox.
