Long Illness Fatal To Burnet Clergyman
Burnet,, Texas, Dec. 13 (AP). --
A Baptist minister for thirty-eight years, Dr. Buren Sparks, 67, died at his home here Monday after a long illness.
Before his retirement because of his health, Dr. Sparks
had served as pastor of Baptist Churches in Artesia, Carlsbad and Santa
Fe, N.M. and Brady, Alpine, Fort Davis and Burnet in Texas. While
pastor in Santa Fe, he served as president of the New Mexico Baptist
Convention and chaplain of the New Mexico State Senate.
He was the author of numerous religious writings.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 pm in the First Baptist Church here.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Harper Sparks of Eagle Pass; C. M. Sparks of San Antonio and J. B. Sparks of Burnet; and two daughters, Mrs. R. L. Chestnut of Sanger, Denton County, and Mrs. C. B. Lohnes of Shreveport, La.
