auditorium last Friday evening, which was listened to by a fairly good
and appreciative audience. Miss
Green is an accomplished elocutionist and made a favorable
impression upon our people. |

Rev. M. J. Allen preached his last sermon in Burnet last Sunday for this conference year. He will next Sunday fill another of his appointments, in the country, which will complete his year's work for this charge. Bro. Allen has had a satisfactory year's work. Among other things, he has built a church house and has had 81 additions to the church. Bro. Allen is a consecrated Christian gentleman, a good mixer and a splendid preacher. He and his excellent family have made many friends in Burnet, and it is not only the desire of his church that he be returned to Burnet, but of the community in general, and as he has been here only one year it is more than likely this wish will be gratified. |

The Republican speaker, Judge Allen, failed to fill his appointment in Burnet Saturday, although he was here. In the afternoon the audience was too small to justify the speaker in making an effort, and the meeting was postponed until night. Quite a number were here to hear him at night, but for some reason he fail to fill his appointment, which caused considerable disappointment, as there were many who had never heard a Republican political speech and wanted to know what one sounded like. |

Mr. Oscar Lamon left wast week for Austin, where he has a position in a corporation with the well known Veternary Surgeon, Dr. LeGear at the head of it. Oscar has been the assistant in the postoffice at this place during the past seven years, and his friends who wish him success in his new avocation are legion. |
