| ~~ Mr. Robt. L. Dorbandt, Steward and Bookkeeper of the Insane Asylum at San Antonio, was in Burnet last week, to visit his father and family and their host of friends. Robert is an aspirant for re-appointment to the position, and we hope he will get it, for he is one of her boys, of whom Old Burnet is proud. | ~~ Floral Society Outing. The ladies of the Floral Society are having all the fun. Last Saturday, they stormed the romantic and picturesque Fairland stock farm and ranch of that gallant and octogenarian bachelor, Col. W. R. Woods, in search of ferns, and had a most enjoyable time rambling over the mountains, absorbing the healthful ozone, gathering flowers and hiding away cold grub. A little bird informs us the venerable but still active and dashing proprietor talked down and walked down a dozen ladies all at once, and charmed the entire party with his affability ahd hospitality. The party were chaperoned by Capt. D. G. Sherrard. |
