On a 640-acre grant (2 mi. east) from Mercer's Colony, they built log cabin, raised corn, wove cloth, and boiled soil from salt lick to make own salt. Had 8 children.
Loving, a brother of pioneer trail driver Oliver Loving, was killed by a horse thief in 1869."

NOTE from the 1972 Census indicates some graves on the south and east ends are overgrown with brush and vines, young saplings and impossible to get to, to read inscriptions. Members of the VELASQUEZ family keep the cemetery mowed.

NOTE from the 1972 Census says "No stones exist for the LEDBETTER family, the first to be buried here in 1848. This family contracted small pox on their arrival in Texas."
