This is a website devoted to genealogy and history in the Dallas County area of Texas. Dallas County is located in the northeastern part of Texas and contains much of the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex, which is home to about 1/4 of the citizens of Texas. Dallas is the county seat and largest city.
The town of Dallas dates back to about 1842 and quickly became an important transportation hub. The county was created and named for it in 1846 from parts of Nacogdoches and Robertson counties.
