Located at 4600 N Belt Line Road in Sunnyvale, TX, Pleasant Ridge Cemetery began in 1878 with the burial of the infant daughter of T. B. Tinsley, who was also the granddaughter of Bob Johnson. A second burial of Miss Keen (or Keane), daughter of Rev. Nelse Keen, followed within a few months. Soon after these two burials, Bob Johnson donated the land to serve as a cemetery. The Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Association was formed, then formalized around 1913 with dues of one dollar a year being collected from members to keep up the grounds and a caretaker's residence. This residence was owned up until June of 1917 when a severe wind storm demolished it. The caretaker, A. J. Taylor, was residing in the house at the time. Many of the area's pioneer families are buried here. It is still an active cemetery with a newer section on the north side. In 1953, the hamlets of Hatterville, New Hope, Long Creek, and Tripp merged under the name Sunnyvale, so references of residents being from these towns (especially New Hope) are mentioned in obituaries of the time.
