Marsh was at a site now at the intersection of Marsh Lane and Interstate Highway 635, within the Dallas city limits in northwestern Dallas County. It was on the original land grant of Thomas C. Marsh, who arrived in the area with his family in 1844 and established a large stock-raising business. The community was on a mail route from Farmers Branch, three miles north. Marsh was not shown on a 1900 map, Sam Street's Map of Dallas County, Texas.
