whom died many years ago. Both sons of Jeff Lawson also are now living in or near Avery. The children of Tobe Lawson moved away from this country some time ago. It is believed that Lawson also had a daughter, Janie, who died when a child.

Isaiah D. Lawson was a man of wonderful strength and endurance, of powerful physical frame, of strong mind, tireless in his defense of the frontier. He was a man who never forgot a friend. While visiting in the home of Dr. Pat B. Clark in 1879, he became ill of pneumonia which resulted in his death. He was buried at old Concord Cemetery in Red River County.

Isaiah H. Lawson, the oldest son, was the father of Lizzie Warthan, W. W. Lawson, Tom Lawson, John C. Lawson, Alice Parchman, Mattie Gaines, Lark Lawson and Ella Joiner. Generally speaking, these people have made their homes in Annona or near by, though quite a number live in Boxelder, a few in Clarksville, Avery and other points of Texas. Since the early days the Lawsons have taken a very prominent part in the development of this country and many of them have held responsible positions as business men and statesmen. John W. Stiles, the son-in-law of I. D. Lawson, represented this county in the Legislature in the 1870's and W. W. Lawson represented this county from 1909 to 1913 in the House of Representatives. More of the genealogy of this family will be added later.
