(RW) John Gibbs Raines, born in Stewart, Tn., the son of David Raines (1815 ? 1860) & Elizabeth Raines (1826 ? 1850).  He married 24 May 1885 in Camp Co., Tx. to Mazie Emily Nipper (1868 ? 1954 she later married a Mr. Hitt).  Their children included Sarah Elizabeth "Janie" Raines (1886 ? 1952), Mary Martha "Mattie" Raines (1888 ? 1972), Andrew Jackson Raines (1891 ? 1954), Ada Pearl Raines (1895 ? 1976), Buster Raines (1898 ? 1900), and Fannie Jewel Raines (1903 ? 1987).  On 14 Jan 1914 he married Rachel Hannah Arnold (1843 ? 1922).  During the Civil War he enlisted in 1863 at age 16 in Co. E, 22nd Tennesse Battalion, Infantry.
