Joseph W MOODY born in SC 1825 moved to Leon county in the late 1850s with his
mother Polly and his brother Robert. He married Clementine (Clem) Smiley Loftin.
He owned property north of Centerville and was a farmer. He was in DeBray's 26th
Cav. during the Civil war. She is buried in Oakwood cemetery but I can't find
when or where he died. It was some time between 1886 and 1900. Related families
are Boggs, Humphries, Browning. Thanks Tom

My James MARSHALL ancestors
James Marshall --- born 1804 in Georgia. Married Mary in South Carolina. The
Marshall family moved from S. Carolina to Leon County Texas. They were counted
in the 1846 Tax List of Leon Co. Texas.
James & Mary children were -- John, Sarah, Nancy, James, Joseph, William and
Mary.
Nancy married my g-great grandfather John T. Adams in about 1852
James Marshall Sr died sometime before the 1860 census was taken. His wife Mary
and their children continued to live in Leon County. Some of the Marshall
children later moved to surrounding counties.

Researching my ADAMS family of Leon County Texas
John T Adams, b. 1821 in Alabama, lived in Leon County Texas in 1854 - around
1872. Married Nancy Marshall, and they had children, James T. 1854, William
Clinton, 1857, and Sally ROSE, 1862. In the 1870 census John T Adams is shown as
married to an Elizabeth and they had a son, John Hugh in 1869. I do not know
what happened to John T. Adams. I assume that he died sometime between 1871-- ?.
My great uncle, William Clinton -- WC, or Clint, stayed in Leon County all his
life. I believe Rose Adams married a Joe Green & lived in Leon County until
after 1915 or so. I would very much appreciate any further information on my

I am looking for information on Simeon E. (Sam) PENNINGTON, born Missouri, 1855,
lived in Jewett, TX (1900 census) and was married to
Annie Jerome Sellars (aka Annie Jaron Carter). Sam died 15 Nov 1904 and is
buried at Little Flock Cemetery alongside his daughter, Bertha, who died 10 Aug
1901. Their other children were Annie Pennington, Thomas Arthur Pennington and
Simeon Eugene Pennington. My great grandfather was Philip Pennington who was in
Buffalo, Leon Co. in 1900. Philip was also from Missouri and his father was
named Simeon. I am wondering if there is a connection between these two men. I'd
like to find out who Sam's parents were.

I cannot find the tombstone, cemetery or death date on John McCASKILL born May,
1809, he is listed in 1900 Leon Co., Tx census but not 10, 20 & 30, so am
assuming he died in Leon Co., but thus far have not found him, hoping maybe
someone has information relating to this John, thanks

I am looking for a gravesite for Andrew JESTER, who was living in Leon Texas in
1860 according to U.S. census records. He was born in 1805 in North Carolina.
Not sure where he would have been buried.

My grandfather, Charles RICH, gifted the Buffalo Cemetery with a large amount of
land which was part of the old Allbright estate on Highway 79 just behind and to
the east of the school. He died in 1946 so it was before this. Can you tell the
details of this bequeath?

I am looking for any death records of Agatha Ford McMILLAN whose Husband was
Neil McMillan. He is buried in the Makamson Cemetery in Leon County according to
one of the cemetery records of 1963 that was filed by Cheryl Burks. It is
thought that Agatha Ford McMillan may be buried in Madison, Leon or some of the
surrounding counties. No record of her death or burial has ever been found. See
comments in the next two paragraphs concerning these two individuals.
NEIL McMILLAN, born March 10 1795 and died July 2 1877. He married AGATHA FORD
July 4 1816 in Cumberland County, North Carolina by MAJOR ARCHIBALD LITTLE,
Justice of the Peace. NEIL was of Scotch Irish ancestry and is buried in
Makamson Cemetery, Leon County, Texas. AGATHA was born September 15 1797 and
died February 18 1885. He was 82 at his death and she was 87 years at her death.
It is unknown at this time where AGATHA FORD is buried.
AGATHA McMILLAN (age 82) filed a Claim of Widow for Service Pension on 04 March
1880. Unknown to her, there were two NEILL McMILLAN’s who said they served in
the War of 1812 from Cumberland County, NC. This caused complications as the
other NEILL filed first and received a Pension and Land Warrant. His wife was
named MARY and he signed all documents with a "+". "Our" NEILL’s name couldn't
be found on a Militia roster and none of the people who offered Personal
Affidavits were actually in the military service with him. AGATHA’s pension
claim was rejected 11 November 1881. She continued to send letters, deeds and
affidavits until 1884.
Agatha Ford McMillan could be buried in Walker, Grimes, Leon or Madison
Counties.
Their children were MARY, JAMES, JOHN, DAN, VOLNEY, DeKALB, KATIE, SALLIE, LOVE
and NEIL.
