HOPEWELL CEMETERY

Our thanks go to the Upshur County Historical Commission for allowing us to use their reading of Hopewell Cemetery.  The reading was done by: Thurman Hearn, Thurman Cagle, Durward Amos, Finley Tucker, Garland Bullock, and Curtis Hart. It was completed June 1, 2000. Thanks also go to Lea Ann Tedford  for the use of her partial reading. We have merged the two to help insure no one was missed. There are many unmarked graves, and graves marked only with native rocks.

Update: Thanks to Billy L Thompson, Sue Kennington, and Fendley Tucker, Secretary/Treasurer of the Hopewell Cemetery, for the recent update.  This should make the listing current through May 24, 2009.

Harrington Margie Nell Russell Mar 11, 1935 Sep 20, 2012 Born in Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas and died in Austin, Travis Co., Texas.  She was born the daughter of Herman and Tula Russell and sister to Delwyn, Paul, Sam, Johny and Freddie.  Her Grandparents were Sam D. and Mary A. Russell also buried here.  She married Leslie Wayne Harrington on 31 July 1953 in Channelview, Texas.  Their children are Evan, Galia, Steven and Toni Harrington.   Submitted by Letty Herrington

Hudnall born about 1823, and Mary Jane Bullard born about 1814.  On 17 Sep 1882 in Upshur Co., Tx. he married Texanna Johnson (1853 ? 1931).  Their children included John Dupree Hudnall (1874 ? 1942), Thomas Leve Hudnall born about 1874, and James W. Hudnall born about 1875.  Some records shows date of birth as 1853.  Also his last name is spell Hudnall and Hudnell in different records.
