Son of Mrs. Lillie Burk, Burnet, Texas

Died of wounds 24 June 1944

Buried at: Plot H Row 21 Grave 3 Normandy American Cemetery St. Laurent-sur-Mer, France

9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division

Awards: Bronze Star, Purple Heart

Herman Burke Wounded in France. Mrs. Lillie Burke of Burnet has received word from the War Department that her son, Herman had been seriously wounded in action in France. He is in the infantry and was with the first contingents to cross on D-Day. He has a twin brother, also in France, who is with the artillery. (Burnet Bulletin, 20 July 1944)
