MRS. M. J. EVERETT DEAD

Mrs. M.J. Everett died Wednesday, December 21st at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hays, in the Pleasant Valley community, Burnet County, Texas. The body was interred in the Bethel community, Rev. Bryan, Baptist minister of Burnet officiating.

Mrs. Everett's maiden name was Kirksey. She was born in the state of Georgia, November 28th, 1847, making her, at the time of her death, 85 years and 23 days of age. She was married, in Georgia in 1873, to Jordan Everett who preceeded her in death some nine years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Everett moved to Texas in 1874, and to Burnet County in 1884 and made Burnet County their home until death took them away.

Mrs. Everett is survived by the following children: Jordan Everett of Lampasas, Henry Everett of Burnet, Owen Everett of Van Zandt County, Mrs. Walter Hays of Burnet County, Leonard Everett of Ft. Worth, and Cecil Everett of Burnet County.

Mrs Everett was a good woman, highly esteemed by all who knew her. The Bulletin joins in extending condolence to the bereaved sons and daughters.

 
 


 


Transcriber's Note:

Missouri Jane Kirksey was born November 28, 1847, in Georgia, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth Hendrick Kirksey of Terrell County, Georgia. She was married to Jordan Everett in Terrell County ( the marriage license issue date is November 28, 1874 and recorded in Marriage Book B, page 122 of Terrell County. With this marriage, she became the mother of Jordan's children by a first marriage:

1. John Thomas Everett, who married Margaret Ann Scott
2. Callis Henrietta Everett, who married Jesse Hamilton Goss
3. Emma Camilla Everett, who married James Kenan
4. James Walter Everett, who married Minerva Elizabeth (Lizzie) Glimp
5. Mary Adela Corene (Mamie) Everett, who married John Franklin Smith

During her marriage to Jordan, Missouri Jane had the following children of her own:

1. Jordan Franklin Everett, who married Carrie Lee Newton
2. Henry Joseph Everett, who married Susan Gibson Mallett
3. Robert Owen Everett, who married Alice Ara Jones
4. Lizzie May Everett, who married Samuel Lee Farquhar
5. Annie Eleanor Everett, who married John Walter Hays
6. Leonard Barnard Everett, who married Lula Alyce Carson
7. Cecil Atwood Everett, who married Cecil Lillian Shelton
