RABB, ET AL - Copies of 9 typed pages entitled, "Reminiscenses of Mary Crownover Rabb", dated January 1875.

RAGLE, ET AL - (1) copy of handwritten letter (4 pages) dated July1855 to William H. Ragle, Limestone Cty Ala, from Martha ? (2) another letter dated 22 April 1855--3 pages (3) letter dated 1857, signed by Johnathan Ragle to his parents (3) letter dated Aug 1859 signed by Jonathan Ragle to his parents (4) eight more sets of letters with dates ranging from 1855s to 1856s.

RAMSEY, A.M. - (1) typed copy of lien: "A.M. Ramsey & wife to Machanics Lien to The Phelps & Biegelow Wind Mill Co." dated 1887, along with order of parts necessary to erect a windmill. (2) newspaper clipping from Austin Statesman, 2 Aug 1975, about a gift to the Austin-Travis County Collection, consisting of a file of Ramsey's Austin Nursery catalogs. "The Ramsey's Nursery was a local institution from 1894 to just a few years ago when it went out of business..." (3) handwritten notes about the Ramsey family, 4 pages. (4) newspaper clipping from Burnet Bulletin, June 30, 1938 about the Ramsey family. Part of the copy too light to read.

RANKIN, ET AL - 32 pages of a typed family history entitled "The American History of The Kentucky Branch of the Rankin Family, 1922" author not stated. Included in the history is the heritage and children of Adam Rankin Johnson of Burnet.

RAWLS, Betsy - Letter from Burnet County Historical Commission dated 1987 about Betsy Rawls, an award she was receiving, copy of a brief biography, and pictures. 7 pages

RAY, Richard "Dick" P. - (1) Register report and Family Group Sheet of Richard P. Ray family.  He was b. in 1850 in Overton County, Tennessee and died 11 Feb 1945 in Bertram.  (2) Undated Photo of R. P. Ray.  (3) CSA Pension Application.  (4)  Biography of R. P. Ray  (5)  Obituary of R. P. Ray, 1945 and obituary of Mrs. R. P. Ray, 1919.  contributed by Dot Creasey of Burnet, Aug 2006

RAY, Andy - Three small photos: (1) of two boys, so faded it's hard to see facial features; written on back is "Andy Ray, Sealy Hodge" (2) three boys in suits, two with cigars in their mouths. Written on back is "Dadys friends. Andy Raye in the middle." (3) three young men in suits. Written on back is "Andy Ray in the middle."

REAVIS, ET AL - correspondence dated 1960 from Earnest Langford to Rose McGuire Kinser of Florence, Texas and her reply with information about her Reavis grandparents and their family.

REED, ET AL - (1) one page typed biography of James Patterson Nobles. Undated, author unknown. (2) very dark, poor copies of newspaper article about Indian depredations, dated 11-02-1972. (3) Family group sheets of Thomas Henry Noble and wife Sarah Ann Patterson and William Noble and wife Hannah Minor.

REYNOLDS, ET AL - Correspondence from 1983 to and from library asking for info on William Reynolds who died 24 July 1887; Mary Catherine Reynolds, who died in 1899; and Anda Jane Reynolds who died in 1904.

RIDDELL, Wallace - (1) multiple copies of 2 Burnet Bulletin newspaper pages of Riddell's funeral and obituary, dated 16 Feb 1978. "They came from all over the State of Texas - over 2,000 strong - to pay their last respects to their friend and colleague, Wallace Riddell. ...The 78-year-old sheriff, who held his office longer than any other sheriff in Texas history, ...died of cancer ...Saturday Feb 11." Photos of Riddell and the funeral service are in the article. (2) newspaper clippings and photos of the Riddell family.

ROBERTS, ET AL - (1) Timeline of events in life of Oran Milo Roberts, former governor of Texas, plus brief biography and family lineage. (2) newspaper clippings, date and source not stated, about Roberts descendants and Governor's retirement years in Marble Falls.

A quote from Roberts:

"Wife and I have every comfort...I am too old to cut stove wood, hence I buy it already cut to stove lengths. I have it stacked in ricks in the yard and each Saturday a boy stacks a week's supply on the back porch...I have my little Jersey cow. I milk her night and morning and have some milk for the neighbors...I have my pig in the pen...We get our simple washing done by a colored woman for fifty cents a week."

The governor lived in Marble Falls until 1898.

Written on back is "Mr. and Mrs Rodgers on porch...a gathering at their home." (3) transcript of oral history interview with John Rogers, who was born in 1888, son of William and Evelyn (Ramsower) Rogers; undated; 8 pages.

ROGERS, WILLIAM HARVEY - Typed oral history interview entitled, "A Song for Sunday (Vignettes from the Life of the William Harvey Rogers Family)", by Peggy Fry Smith. The interview was conducted in 1995 with Lorene (Rogers) Newlin Murphy, one of the daughters of William Harvey Rogers and Ada Rawlings Rogers, early residents of Burnet County. 23 pages.

ROSS, ET AL - (1) newspaper clipping of obit for Oscar Ross, who died 5 Jan 1947 at his home near Bertram. He was born in Fannin County Texas 26 Nov 1874; married Miss Jo Barton on 11 Dec 1895. There were three children from this marriage: one son and two daughters; the son, Leo, died in infancy. Mr Ross was survived by his wife and daughters, Mrs. W.F. Adams and Mrs. E.F. Duncan of Austin; two brothers, Walter Ross and Aylmer Ross of Bertram; two grandsons, Wilbur Ross Adams and Billy Gene Duncan of Austin; and one great granddaughter, Mary Jean Adams of Austin. (2) 7 page typed oral history interview with Mrs. L.C. Ross (Reta). She speaks at great length about Charlie, whose father was William Alfred Ross. (3) Confederate Pension Application for John A. Ross, who was born in Perry Co. Alabama. He died in the home of his son, W.A. Ross, in 1917. (4) Confederate Pension Application for A. Ross, who applied from Trinity County in 1899. (5) Widows Application for a pension for Mrs. Fannie Ross, filed in 1917. She was the wife of John A. Ross. (6) Widow's Application for Pension of Clarissa Ross, filed in 1910. She was the wife of A. Their children were William, who married Mary Howell; Nathna, who married Elizabeth Ann Spear; Charles, who married Sulthenia Wade; Mary, who married Andrew B. Howell; Catherine; Ruth, who married George Milstead; Leah, who married Gillem Wiles; John, who married Margaret Ann Baxter; and Virginia. (2) Correspondence dating from 1971 about research concerning Mary Rutledge Howell, the writer's great aunt.
