NORMAN DALE SHEDD

Norman Dale was born Feb 22, 1939 and was drowned June 1, 1947. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shedd of Post, TX and a grandson of the late John Mannos and Mrs. Laura Mannos of near Evant. He leaves....
John Clayton Shedd
DRIVER DIES; AREA WRECKS INJURE 2. A former distributive education teacher, in the Slaton Public Schools was killed and an 88 year old Lubbock man was injured Saturday in a two car crash in west Slaton.
The fatal mishap occurred during an outbreak of Lubbock County traffic acccidents which injured 10 other persons, at least one seriously. Five persons were hurt in a smashup at Shallowater and two youngsters were struck down by vehicles in the Hub City.
Dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital, Slaton, was John Clayton Shedd, 32 year old Post native, most recently a teacher teaching in Mesquite. Injured in the same accident was Clarence Nelson Wylie, 1514 E. Auburn, who was in fair condition late Saturday at Mercy Hospital.
Slaton police said the mishap occurred about 1:30 pm at US 84 bypass and Cemetery Road in west Slaton. Investigators said Shedd was travelling northwest on US 84 and Wylie was headed east on Cemetery Road, and the broadside collision occurred in the intersection. Both men were alone in their late model cars. They were taken to the hospital by Williams Funeral Home ambulance, Slaton.
Shedd taught distributive education in Slaton for about two years, moving to Mesquite to accept a similar position about 1 1/2 years ago. He was a graduate of Post High School and North Texas State College, Denton. He was also a US Navy veteran, serving from 1955 to 1959.
Survivors include the wife, Paula, Mesquite. his mother, Mr. JW Shedd, Post, four brothrs, Lloyd M., Plainview, Emmett, Post, Delbert, Birmingham ALA, and Charles, Austin; three sisters, Margie, Post, Mrs. Billy Snow, Japan, and Mrs. Kenneth Rumbaugh, Levelland.
SARAH SHEDD

Post- Services for Sarah Ella Shedd, 86, of Anson, will be at 10:30 am Saturday in the Church of God of Prophecy with Edgar Newdiger of Post officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Leon Flemmer, Minister. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery under direction of Hudman Funeral Home. She died Wednesday morning in the Valley View Care Center in Anson. She was born in Chickasha, OK and was a former Post resident. She married John Shedd on Nov 5, 1921 in Gatesville. He died in 1965.
Survivors include three sons, Lloyd of Plainview, Emmett of Aspermont, Delbert of Trussville, ALA. three daughters Margie Nell of Abilene, Onella Snow of Hawley and Laverne Rumbaugh of Levelland; a sister Fannie Harriston of Evant; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
Ester Pernel Browning Carpenter
Birth: Apr. 1, 1907 Death: Mar. 3, 1992
Esther Carpenter, a homemaker and mother of Tarrant County Sheriff Don Carpenter, died Tuesday in Lynn County Hospital after a brief illness. She was 84. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sweet Street Baptist Church in Tahoka, where she was a member. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery in Post.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Clay County, Ala. She moved with her family to Texas and attended school in Close City. She married Clarence W. Carpenter in Post in 1927. He died in 1958. Mrs. Carpenter moved to Lynn County from Post in 1976.
Survivors: Three sons, Donald Carpenter of Fort Worth, Gene L. Carpenter of Slaton and Jackie Carpenter of Azle; two daughters, Melba Mahon of Lubbock and Eddie Lockaby of Tahoka; one brother, Lynn Browning of Brownfield; 19 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
R.E. Shedd

Post- Services for R.E. Shedd, 76 of Post will be at 2pm Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billie S. Smith, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Paul D. Jones, minister of the Post Church of Christ, will assist and burial in Terrace Cemetery will be directed by Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Shedd died Wednesday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness. He was born in Coryell County and statred school at Gatesville. He moved to Lometa, then to Post when he was 14 with his family. He married Ruby Gray on June 23, 1935, in Post. They farmed until 1943, when he joined the US Army. He served in the 88th Divisio during WWII.
He went to work for the Texas Department of Highways in 1947 and retired in 1974. He had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1954, and was a deacon there. A son, Charles Edward Shedd, died on July 16, 1954.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert E. Shedd of Garland; two brothers AT Shedd Jr. of Crescent City, Ca and Noble F. Shedd of Winkleman AX; two sisters, Verdie Price of Olancha, CA and Pauline McDade of Buchanan Dam; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Daymon Etheridge, Glenn Polk, Vernon Nesmith, Darrell Cowles, Benny Gray and Don Gray.
Billy Payton Snow

Billy Payton Snow, 65, of Hawley died Friday near Brady after a traffic accident. Graveside services will be at 11 am Tuesday in Terrace Cemetery in Post with Bill Swindler officiating directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene, Tx. Mr. Snow was born in Ireland, Tx and graduated from hight school in Post. He moved to Hawley from Michigan in 1967 and retired from the US Air Force after 20 years. He was maintenance foreman for the carpenter shop at Abilene State School for 17 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Hodges Baptist Church. He married Onella Dean Shedd in 1955 in Post.
Survivors include his wife, of Hawley, his mother, Linnie Belle Snow of Brownwood, one son, David A. Snow of Hawley, one daughter Lee Ann Fay of Hawley one sister, Ruth Hardy of Brownwood, and four grandchildren. Last rites for Delvin Clyde Shedd, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Shedd, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Mason Funeral Home chapel and at the graveside in Terrace Cemetery. The Rev. Shelby D. Bishop, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church officiated. The baby was born at 3;05 pm Saturday in Garza Memorial Hospital and died at 11;45 pm Sunday.
Survivors besides the parents are a sister Terry Carol, and the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Shedd and Mr. and Mrs. WB Partlow.

He died Friday, March 24, 2000 in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born May 25, 1928 in Lometa. He married Doris Partlow on Dec 19, 1953. She died Sept 11, 1997. He was a retired pumper for George R. Brown Partnership and a member of the Texas Archeological Society.
A son, Delvin, died in 1956. Survivors include two daughters, Terry Robison of Rander, and Penny Mahan of New Deal; sons Joe of Levelland and Mark of Wimberley, a brother Delbert of Trussville Ala, two sisters Onella Snow of Hodges and Laverne Soules of Sundown, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dee Lynn Snow

Post- Dee Lyn Snow 3 1/2 year old daughter of Sgt and Mrs. Billy Snow who are stationed in Japan with the US Air Force, died Saturday from a combination of two serious injuries recently incurred in the home.
Services are set for 2 pm Friday in First Baptist Church here with the Rev. William D. Wyatt pastor of the First Baptist Church of Alburquerque officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery under direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
Pall Bearers will be Travis Gilmore, Glenn Wheatley, TC Polk and Harold Briton.
The youngster was injured from a fall in the home about April 30 and later suffered more critical injuries when she pulled a pot of boiling water off the table on her. The family reported she died from a combination of the two injuries. She was hospitalized April 16, died in the hospital April 28, 1967.
Dee was born Sept 18, 1961 in Alburquerque, where the family resided prior to moving to Japan five weeks ago.
Survivors are the parents, a sister Lee Ann and a brother David, both of the home, her grandparents Mrs. John Shedd of Post and Mr and Mrs. Bill Snow of Brownwood.

Burial will be in Terrace Cemtery under the direction of Justice Mason Funeral Home. He died Saturday Nov 11, 2000 at covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born OCt 18, 1938 in Acton.
He came to Garza Co with his family to farm and ranch. He graduated from Post schools. He married Marie Howard on Dec 21, 1957 in Post. They made their first home there and moved to Lubbock in 1959. In 1978 they returned to Post, and he worked for the Postex Cotton Mill until it closed. He then worked as a carpenter for many years and worked for Snyder Machine Shop in Snyder. He was a member of the council of the Girl Scouts for many years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Thereesa Baumann of Rowlett, Julie Tyler and Karen Worthington both of Abilene. His father TF Davis of Post, two brothers, Darrel of Fort Worth and Leslie of Post; a sister Carolyn Allen of Snyder and 5 grandchildren.

Mrs. Blacklock died early Wednesday morning at her home.
She married Thomas Jefferson Blacklock on Sept 10, 1911. She had been a resident of Post for the past 35 years.
She had been a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of several years.

Howard died Wednesday, Oct 2, 1996 at University Medical Center. He was born April 13, 1919 in Doole. He attended Gouldbusk schools, and he was a US Army veteran of WWII. He moved to Post in 1993. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John Miller Post 6796 and the Baptist church.
He farmed in Lynn County. A son Kenneth died in 1973.
Survivors include his wife; a son Keith of Lubbock; a daughter, Marie Davis of Post; two brothers, John of Kilgore and Jr. of Houston; four sisters, Bess Bowen of Coleman, Pat Sneed of Winters, Modena Tennison of Abilene and Robena Casey of Seminole; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Burial will be at 4 pm Tuesday in Spur Cemetery under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Hahn died Sunday March 30 1997 in St Mary Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1948 in Spur. He graduated from Post High School, and he married Charlene Dippel on June 17, 1972 in Stamford. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and Angelo State University. He was a member and deacon at Broqadview Baptitst Church and he moved to Lubbock in 1973.
He had worked for Rip Griffin Inc., and he worked for Continental Water Systems.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters Angela and Kim, both of Lubbock, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hahn Sr. of Post, a sister Barbara Stevens of Murfreesboro TN. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.

Jackie Blacklock, 71, of Post died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in Post. Services are pending with Hudman Funeral Home in Post.
Jackie was born in Hidalgo Co. TX. He was the son of Bernard Marvin 'Bunt' Blacklock and Gladys Geneva Oney. He married Joann Holly in Dec 20, 1952. They had four children, Jackie, Joe Harold, Jerry Lynn and Janet Renee. [Edit Bio]

Mathis died at 11;35 pm Monday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after an illness. He was born in Wilbarger Co. He married Faye Ricahrdson on June 16, 1935, in Lubbock. He was a pumper for the George R. Brown Oil Co. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Scottish Rite. He was a Baptist.

She was born Sept 25, 1918 in Waco and she attended school in Hubbard and Godley. She married TF Davis on July 31, 1938 in Godley. She moved to Garza Co. in 1940, then to CA during WWII. She returned to Post after the war. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Postex Cotton Mill. She and her husband had farmed in Garza Co.

She was born in Clay Co. ALA and moved to Post in 1919. She married Otis Shepherd Sr. on Jan 24, 1923 in Post. He died in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. A son Otis G. Jr. died in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Mack of Andrews and Douglas of Post; Three daughters, Mamie Burdick of Lubbock, Joann Whitaker of Phoenix, AZ and Melba Jo Smallwood of Slaton; a sister, Ester Carpenter of Tahoka, a brother Lynn Browning of Brownfield; 26 grandchilcren, and five great grandchildren. Grandsons will be pallbearers.

He died Friday morning in Lubbock's West Texas Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Post. He was a lab manager for the City of Post. He had been a police officer for 20 years.
He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Post 6797. He married Alva Booth Sept 8, 1982 in Oklahoma City OK. He was a Baptist.

Funeral services for Mrs. Azalee B. Taylor, 43, who died at 7;50 am Wednesday in a Littlefield hospital, will be held at 2 pm today (Thursday) at the Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Taylor, who had been a resident of Post for the last 12 years had been in the Littlefield hospital for five days. An employee of the Postex MIlls, she lived at 413 North Ave P.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Taylor of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Leo Burkett of Levelland, her mother Mrs. Ethel King of Post; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Coleman of Big Spring, Mr. JF Capwell of Memphis TX and Mrs. Charlie Gutherie of Post and a grandson, Walter Jay Burkett.
The Rev Dale Doxier, Calvary Baptist pastor, will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be at Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.

The Copperas Cove native had been a Post resident for 50 years and was a homemaker. She married Pat Blacklock June 26, 1926 in Coryell Co. TX.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter Nora Joe Richardson of Brownfield, a son Ronnie of Clovis NM, two sisters Virdie Price of California and Pauline McDade of Lake Buchanan, three brothers AT of CAlifornia, Noble of AZ and RE of Post, six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Betty Lorene in 1980.

She died at 8;45 pm Thursday in Midland Memorial Hospital after an illness. She was born in Texas and had lived in Seminole and Vincent before moving to Post in 1950. She married Virgil Blacklock on Nov 2, 1931 in Lovington NM. He died in 1976. She married Ora wallace in May 1978. He died in 1982. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. A son, Kenneth, died in 1934.
Survivors include four daughters, Fern Adams of Stanton, Janet Porterfield of Tahoka, Barbara Rushing of Phoenix AZ, and Gloria Gee of Seattle Washington; a stepson, Glen Blacklock of Fort Worth; a brother; Herbert Wallace of Seminole; two sisters, Ruby Burk of Miles and Opal Langford of Santa Anna; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Adams, Michael Adams, Don Porterfield, Gene Flowers, Jackie Blacklock and Billy Blacklock.

Mrs. Blacklock died at 5 pm Sunday in Garza Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. A member of the Baptist Church, she had lived in Justiceburg for 39 years. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Penn of Cooksville, Tn, five sons, CW of CAldwell, Billy of Justiceburg, RJ of Elgin, Jackie of Post and Bobby of Temple. Four sisters Myrtle Keeton and Jewel Ballard of Pearl, Ellen Theuapteau of Port Arthur and Mary Blackfoot of Athens, a brother Creed Oney of Pearl, 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Post-Services will be at 4 pm today in First Baptist Church here for B.M. Blacklock 69, resident of the Post area since 1943, who died Friday in a Crosbyton nursing home. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. Clayton Pennington, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. PC Goza, Justiceburg. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery under direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Born in Brown County, Blacklock moved to Post from Brown County. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter Mrs. Sue Jean Sewell, Post, five sons, CW, Spur, Billy, Justiceburg, RJ, Jackie and Bobby all of Post; a sister Mrs. Bessie Franks, Stephenville, four brothers, Tom, Virgil, and Pat all of Post and Bill of Miles, 20 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harold Johnston, James Browning, RH Sappington, Lonnie Welborn, David Tyler and John Sutter.

Post- Services for Pat Blacklock 86, of Brownfield will be at 11 am Monday at Justice Mason Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Blacklock a Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery.
He died at 10;53 pm Friday in Brownfield Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Purmela, where he attended school. He moved to Post in 1933 and farmed in the area. He also had worked for the City of Post and Garza County for many years. He married Nancy Doyel Shedd on June 26, 1926 in Coryell Co. She died in 1983. A daughter, Lorene, Shepherd, died in 1980.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie of Oxford, England; a daughter, NOra J. Richardson of Brownfield; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Jones, Carl Hogue, Bill Case, Joe Bob Blacklock, Don Eilenberger and DH Bartlett.
The family will be at the funeral home from 2 pm to 5 pm today.

Post- Services for Lorene Shepherd 53, of Post will be at 3 pm today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clayton Pennington of Abilene officiating.
Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Justice Mason Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shepherd died early Tuesday morning at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
She moved to Garza Co with her family in 1933 and graduated fro Post High School. She attended Texas Tech University and later attended the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Becoming a licensed vocational nurse in 1970. She received her registered nurse's licesnse in 1975. She was a member of the Emergency Medical Service ambulance staff and served as a volunteer attendant for the city county ambulance service.
Survivors include a daughter, Reba Parks of Lubbock, a son Gary of Lubbock, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Pat Blacklock of Post, a brother Ronnie Blacklock of Clovis NM, a sister Nora Richardson of Brownfield and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson Sean Patrick Parks in 1978.
Pallbearers will be Don Eilenberger, Kyle Blacklock, James Whitener, Kyle Josie, Jim Owens, and Kenny McKamie.

Boy Fatally Wounded in 'play' with gun Lubbock Avalanche Journal 3/18/1978
Sean Patrick 'Patty' Parks, seven year old Lubbock boy, was fatally wounded Saturday evening in an accidental shooting on the Garza farm of his great grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Pat Blacklock.
Justice of the Peace Racy Robinson held a brief inquest into the shooting that night and ruled death by gun accident.
Patty, son of Mrs. Reba Teal Parks, died at 7;30 pm Saturday in Garza Memorial Hospital to which he had been taken by Mr. Blacklock following the shooting.
The justice of the peace told the Dispatch that Patty and an older brother had gone to take a bath when they found an old .22 rifle hanging on a bedroom wall. They got the gun down and it accidentally discharged, a bullet striking the boy in the chest and passing through his body, according to Mr. Robinson.
Mrs. Park is a former Post resident and was raised here.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Monday in the First Baptist Church here. The Rev. Jack Garrett, pastor of the First Christian Church of Brownfield, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Clayton Pennington of Fluvanna's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include the boy's parents Mr. and Mrs. Barry Parks of Lubbock; two brothers, Lance and Terry of the home in Lubbock, one sister Heather, also of Lubbock. grandparents, Lorene Shepherd and Junior Shepherd both of Post and Elmer Teal of Lubbock and the great grandparents.
Charles Shedd
Killed in Oil Field Accident (1954..Lubbock Avalanche Journal)
Last rites for Charles Edward Shedd were conducted at 4 oclock Sunday afternoon in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Shelby Bishop, Calvary Baptist pastor and the Rev. Roy Shahan pastor, officiating. Jim Hays directed the choir which sang 'Rock of Ages', 'In the Sweet by and by' and 'The Old Rugged Cross' with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Ray N. Smith. Burial was in the Terrace Cemetery uunder the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Shedd an employee of Allison Drilling Co. was killed when he was struck by the long....oil drilling rig near Sterling, .Colorado, Friday night. A former employee of the Texas Highway Department in Lubbock he had been working at Sterling about 2 months.
He was born April 9, 1936 in Hockley County and moved with his parents to Post before he was a year old.
He attended Post Schools. On Dec 24, 1952 he was married to the former Miss Wanda Bratcher, daughater of Mr. and Mrs. FM Bratcher in the Church of the Nazarene. While waiting for guests to assembile for a reception, the couple and their attendants were seriously injured in an automobile accident on the Lubbock Highway. Following several months hospitalization, the couple was honored with the reception on April 21, 1953.
Survivors are the widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. RE Shedd, a brother, Robert E. Shedd and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs CE Gray of Post and AT Shedd Sr of San Angelo.

T.F. Davis

POST -- T.F. Davis, a native of Scurry County, died Monday, March 8, in the Golden Plains Care Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Davis, 86, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie
Blacklock, pastor of the Cowboy Church in Justiceburg, officiating. Burial will follow in the Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Born April 10, 1917 at Ennis Creek in Scurry County to Isiah and Mertie Belle (Martin) Davis, he married Ruby Nell Blacklock on July 20, 1935 in Godley. She died in 1996.
Mr. Davis Moved to Garza County in 1940 to farm and ranch. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he returned to Post to work for General American Oil Co. as a pumper, retiring in 1980. Mr. Davis was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Leon Davis in 2000; and by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel and Kay Davis of Fort Worth and Leslie and Linda Davis of Post; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Elvin Allen of Post and formerly of Snyder; a daughter-in-law, Marie Davis of Post; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
