Seeking information about my great great grandfather, J.C. "Jack" THOMASON b. March 24, 1843 Maury County Tennessee. J.C. died Alba, Texas July 21, 1922. His second wife was Nancy Jane BLACKBURN b. July 1844 TN; I think she died May 1926 in Gatesville, Texas? I think she and J.C. may have divorced and Nancy remarried. They had at least three children: Ada Edith, Sarah Ethel, and Victoria Thomason. Ada Edith Thomason married Homer H. HIGGINBOTHAM. Ada died August 6, 1968 and is buried in Alba, Texas with her husband. J.C. and Nancy's second child, Sarah Ethel Thomason married Harry "Henry" PIERCE, and I believe she died March 1974 in Faulker Co. Arkansas. It is believed the J.C. married a third time in 1919 to Bertie Mae DOYLE.

I am researching the CONGER, BENTON, STEVENSON, LLOYD, CROMER, FLOURNOY, HAINES Families from Wood County. I am also particularly interested in any Civil War Service records of John Benton, Jr., John Benton, Sr., Thomas E. Conger, Samuel Martin Flournoy, T.F. Benton, William Alexander Conger, and Frank Benton. I am particulary seeking information on a reported Confederate monument that once rested over the grave of John Benton at Rock Hill Cemetary. He is believed to have been a member of the 2nd Texas Partisan Rangers. Any record of the muster from Wood County of that regiment is sought too. Seeking more info on the siblings of Joseph A.TARBUTTON 1858 Tenn d.1906 Shelby co. Tx. He was the s/o Wm.Tarbutton and wife Eliza. Both William and Eliza were dead by 1880 Wood co.census, leaving minor children. Joe's siblings were: Robert-lived in Rains county, James-I don't know anything on him, Idella-md a CHANSLER and lived in Huntsville, Tx. William-I don't know anything on him. Seeking information about the REYNOLDS and BERRY families who resided around Salado, TX. My grandfather, Henry Clyde REYNOLDS (1894-1944), lived with John Riley BERRY and wife Mary Ann Reynolds BERRY at time of 1910 census. His father, Job S. H. REYNOLDS, died there some time after 1900. All are buried in Salado Cemetery. Another brother, James Pinckney REYNOLDS, lived there for a while in the early 1900's before moving to CA where he died. Other related families in the area were ODOM, SULLIVAN.

I am looking for information on Martha J. Wilson REYNOLDS who resided in 1870 in the community of Black Oak in Hopkins Co, according to census records. Martha appears in 1860 Choctaw Co, MS census with husband, W. P. REYNOLDS, however, W. P. is not with the family in 1870. According to birth of their last child, Job REYNOLDS, b. Dec. 1866 in MS, they moved to TX between approximatley 1867-1870. Did W. P. die in MS or in TX? What happened to Martha? She appears on 1880 census in Wood County in Precinct #3. Did the county line between Hopkins and Wood Counties possibly move or did she?. Martha's children were Emily Caldonia REYNOLDS, b. 1851; George W. My great-grandmother was born in Tyler in 1845. Her name was Camely (or Cameley) Elizabeth LEE. (In 1870 she married George Nathan ARNOLD.) I am trying to identify her parents. I cannot find any of the family in the 1850 census. In 1860, she and a brother, Henry LEE, were living in the household of Wiley and Martha GEORGE in Wood County, so I suspect both her parents had died. (Martha GEORGE was probably not their remarried mother, as I once suspected, as Smith County records show W. W. GEORGE marrying Martha SHAW in 1855. Smith County records show W. Edward LEE as an early landowner, and I suspect he may have been Camely and Henry's father, but I have no other information about him.

John Samuel WALKER was my grandfather. He lived in Wood county from around 1880 till at least 1902.Around 1880, when he was 7, his parents were killed by a train in Mineola. Does anyone have any record of such a disaster? Joe Walker Box 33 Humble, TX 77347

Looking for information on Jasper A. PHILLIPS and brother Egbert Phillips. They had 2 sisters named Fannie and Josephine. Jasper was in the Civil War and left afterward to go to Arkansas. Thanks for any help.

Looking for the surname of OXFORD. My grandfather was Henry Jackson OXFORD, b. 1902 in Upshur county. He is buried in Antioch cemetery in Grice, TX. WALKER, John Samuel was orphaned in Mineola, TX in the late 1870's or early 1880's when his parents were killed by a train. John Samuel was born in Arkansas around 1873. I have found no record of him untill he married Miss A. A. DURR in Wood County in 1893. He then married Catherene Volana ANDREWS in 1902 in Wood County.
