Looking for information on my greatgrandparents Christopher Columbus ELLIS and Mattie Martha ALLEN. They were married about 1895 there in Wood County. They had my grandmother Viola Faye, her brother Benjamin Franklin and a sister Rosie Bell who was born in Mineola. My grandmother married a Marshall, Benjamin married a Sheldon and Rosie Bell married a Karnes.

My friends name is Joyce HALL KRUEGER, though her birth certificate lists "Virgin Mary Hall or COCHRAN" as her name. She was born in 1923 to Mamie Hall Cochran, who died only six weeks later. Joyce remembers going to a cemetary as a little girl near some kind of beacon light on a road outside of Mineola. She dosen't think her mothers grave was marked but she would like to find it and perhaps put a headstone on it. Her grandmother apparently died and was buried with her mother at the same time but she can't remember her grandmothers name. Joyce would be very happy to find out about her mother if you can help. HOWARD, b. 1826 married to Nancy Jane PARKER on 18 Aug 1848 in Nacogdoches Co, TX. In 1850, he and Nancy are in Nacogdoches Co., with Lorenzo. 1860 has them in Wood County, with Lorenzo D., Jesse L., Samuel G., Moses L., Mary E., Thos, J. My particular interest is in the ancestors of Mary E., b. 1858. Earlier info I had said she was born in Ward Co TX Some family documents finally came my way, indicating that it was Wood County, not Ward County. Also in these documents is a hand written document by my grand mother (Willie Irene Baker Richbourg, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Howard Baker) that says (I am paraphrasing); Grandfather Howard and his brother were blacksmiths. They went to gather (can't read) and a neighbor came over and there was a fist fight. They separated friends, then the neighbor and several other men came back and killed the two Howard men. Several other men were later killed, some hung". There is no date on the note, and no location; I assume that it was written by my grandmother based on the hand writing, and that it was with her other things.
